This list of healthy snacks is meant to help you generate ideas to create healthy snack foods on your own and give you a base to build on. Once you learn the tricks of recipe conversion you will have a boundless list of healthy snack foods at your disposal.

I can't wait for you to try some of these healthy snack recipes soon, especially the ones with Greek yogurt.

♥ Smoothies - Use fresh fruit, skim milk, and nonfat Greek yogurt in any combination that you like. The Greek yogurt will make these so rich and creamy… list of healthy snacks

♥ Fresh fruit salad - Mix your fruit ahead of time and have it on hand so you can grab and go if need be. I like to put a few raisins in the bowl. They fall to the bottom and soak up the juice from the other fruit and get really plump. When you bite into one, it's like a burst of fruit juice. Try mixing some new fruit that you don't usually eat. How about kiwi or Mexican mango?

♥ No sugar added applesauce is great with the raisins in it (described above). Remember to put the raisins in ahead of time to give them time to soak up the applesauce. It's very simple and very delicious. The raisins definitely kick it up a notch.

♥ Freeze grapes. They're delicious. You don't know what you've been missing.

♥ Frozen fruit bars - Be sure to get the ones that say 100% fruit, not the words "contains 100% fruit". They can put in only a few drops of real juice to get away with that misleading claim on the label.

♥ If you crave crunch, try some baked chips but be a detective when it comes to the nutrition facts label and choosing the right brand. You might be lured in by claims of "zero trans-fat". Check on the total fat. A food can be very high in fat but still not have any trans-fat. Get familiar with reading food labels. Better yet, bake your own. Spray a little olive oil cooking spray on corn tortillas and throw them in the oven until they get crispy. With fresh salsa, Ole!

♥ Slice up cucumbers and sprinkle or cover them in rice wine vinegar and a little salt and pepper. Delicious and a great side dish with dinner as well. Very refreshing on a warm day.

♥ A slice of whole grain bread (I like my toasted) with peanut butter. This is so satisfying. Use a natural peanut butter with no sugar.

♥ Put peanut butter on some apple slices. And while you're at it, try a new variety of apples that you've never eaten before. You may find yourself a new favorite.

♥ Slice a banana in half and spread peanut butter on it. Delicious by itself or as the base of a smoothie.

♥ Smash a banana with a fork. Really smash it. Then put it in a dessert serving dish and cover it with berries. Looks elegant and tastes great.

♥ Granola and cereal bars. Look for the ones low in fats and sugars. I hate to be a nag but don't trust the claims on the front of the box, practice reading food labels.

♥ There's always good old air popped popcorn when the occasion calls for quantity with few calories.

♥ Non fat Greek yogurt with fruit is heavenly. Greek yogurt is my new best friend. I admit I sometimes put sweetener in it, but I swear it's better than cheesecake.

♥ Mix the Greek yogurt with an equal part of canned pumpkin or baked sweet potato for a pumpkin pie like dessert. It's like pumpkin mousse.

♥ Put a dab of the yogurt on a baked peach half. To die for. Any stone fruit (fruit with pits) can be baked to release the natural sugars. After the fruit cools a little you end up with a gooey natural syrup that you can drizzle over the yogurt. This is a great snack but can hold its own as an elegant dessert for any meal as well.

♥ How about some fresh buffalo mozzarella (1 oz) and tomatoes. I recommend grape tomatoes for the extra sweetness. Cut them in half. Sprinkle the cheese and tomatoes with a little basil and some balsamic vinegar. Grape or cherry tomatoes are also delicious roasted.

♥ Hummus (1/4 cup) and veggies to dip. Hummus is not only great tasting but it's made from beans (chickpeas) which are high in fiber and protein and are on the list of 15 fat burning foods. Plus you get added fiber from the veggies you use to dip. Trader Joe's makes a cilantro jalapeno hummus that is to die for. Just watch the portion on the hummus. It's so delicious, it's easy to go overboard.

♥ A bowl of oatmeal with 1 tsp of brown sugar on top makes me feel like I'm eating something decadent. Nowadays, you can even get this at Starbucks, so it is easily available. Watch out for all of the add-ons if you do get it there. The nuts, raisins, and sugar will definitely send the calorie count soaring.

♥ A nonfat latte (without any syrups) only has about 80 calories worth of milk. Plus you get the added benefit of calcium.

♥ You can't beat a slice of whole grain bread topped with thinly sliced tomato, sprinkled with feta cheese, salt and pepper, and then toasted or broiled.
