Don't Miss Out On The Benefits of Physical Fitness

If you are like me, you may not be aware of the benefits of physical fitness. Sure, there is a lot of talk about the importance of physical fitness, but what does being fit actually do for you?

Below is a list of many of the benefits of physical fitness that you can experience by developing a regular exercise program.

Remember that your program should include all of the five components of fitness. Whether you are playing a sport, dancing all night, doing water aerobics exercises, taking classes at a dojo or creating your own fun exercise ideas, being active will improve your life.

How often, how long and how hard you exercise, and what kinds of exercises you do should be determined by what you are trying to accomplish. The benefits of physical fitness that you achieve are influenced by your goals, your present fitness level, age, health, skills, interest and convenience.

Consider all of these factors, and don't be swayed by fitness myths when you are creating your fitness plan. For example, an athlete training for high-level competition would follow a different program than a person whose goals are good health and the ability to meet work and recreational needs.

The Benefits of Physical Fitness

Flexibility
Reduces stiffness, reduces the risk of injury to joints and muscles and provides freedom of movement. Stretching is the best way to attain flexibility.

Increased Strength and Healthier Bones, Muscles and Joints
Strength training builds your muscle mass, gives you stronger bones, a leaner appearance, and increases the number of calories that your body burns both at rest and during physical activity (short-term).

Sounder Sleep
Studies show that people who exercise regularly fall asleep more easily and sleep longer than those who do not.

Boost in Energy Level
Exercise improves the blood flow in the body and promotes better sleep, both of which boost energy.

Relaxation and Stress Relief
Exercise releases endorphins which relax the body and calm the mind to make you feel good, even euphoric. Have you noticed that you're in a good mood at the end of your workout or activity.

Weight Loss
Aerobic exercise burns calories during the duration of the exercise and strength training burns calories in the 24 hour period following the training.

Commit to be fit!

Increased Lung Capacity
Yoga, aerobics, and other activities that focus on breathing lead to increased lung capacity and improve the body's overall function.

Reduced Risk of Heart Disease, Hypertension, Diabetes and Cancer
Aerobics will make you breather more deeply and breathe faster. As a result there will be more oxygen in your blood.

Your heart rate will go up so you will have improved blood flow to your muscles and your lungs. This enables your capillaries to widen and deliver more oxygen to your muscles and carry away waste products.

Reduced Depression
The effects of exercise on mood are immediate. Blood flow to the brain is increased, endorphins are released and your mood lifts.

Confidence
Exercise provides a sense of accomplishment, which is a boost to confidence.

Improved Sex Life
When you look better, lose weight, have more energy and more flexibility ... You do the math.

The advantages of regular physical activity - from preventing chronic health conditions to promoting sensible weight loss and better sleep -are available to all of us, regardless of age, sex or physical ability, and help to define our quality of life. The importance of physical fitness cannot be overstated.
